Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2025 — PikaEdit
1.Introduction
PikaEdit is built on one principle: your files are yours, and we have no access to them. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights. Please read it carefully.
2.File Processing
All files you process on PikaEdit — PDFs, images, documents — are handled entirely within your web browser using client-side JavaScript. Files are never uploaded to our servers. We have zero access to your file contents. This is a technical guarantee, not just a policy: our servers have no file-upload endpoints.
3.Encrypted Notes
The notes-sharing feature uses AES-256-GCM encryption performed entirely in your browser before any data reaches our server. The encryption key lives only in the URL hash fragment (the portion after #), which browsers never transmit to servers. Our server stores only the encrypted ciphertext and is technically incapable of decrypting it. Notes are automatically and permanently deleted after your chosen expiry period.
4.Analytics & Advertising
We use privacy-respecting anonymous analytics to understand which tools are most useful. No personal data is collected — only aggregate page-view counts and anonymised device/browser statistics. We may display advertisements through Google AdSense, which can set third-party cookies for ad personalisation. You can opt out via your browser settings or the Google Ads settings page.
5.Data We Collect
We do NOT collect:
- Your files, documents, or their contents
- Personal information (name, email address, etc.)
- Account data — no account system exists
We may collect:
- Anonymous page-view counts (no personal identifiers)
- Browser and device type for analytics (anonymised)
- IP addresses temporarily for rate-limiting on the notes feature only — these are never stored persistently
6.Third-Party Services
PikaEdit integrates the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:
- Google AdSense — advertising
- Google Fonts — typography (loaded locally via next/font with no external requests)
- Open-source CDN libraries used for client-side file processing
7.GDPR & KVKK
Users in the European Union have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Users in Turkey have rights under KVKK (Kisisel Verilerin Korunmasi Kanunu). Because PikaEdit does not collect personal data, there is minimal data to manage. For any privacy-related request or concern, contact us at the address below.
8.Children's Privacy
PikaEdit is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, please contact us immediately so we can remove it.
9.Policy Updates
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the Last Updated date at the top of the page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of PikaEdit after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
